A Taste of the 600 Africa Pictures I took: Cheetah Feeding in Namibia

So you will have to wait until Xmas to see the wildlife photos (giraffe, rhinos, elephants, hippos, elands, kudu, ostrich.....you name it and I probably saw it) as I took those in RAW format and need to do a bit of sprucing up with them. But I also took the "little camera" as Brian and I affectionately call it so I thought I would share some of those pics since they are already in jpeg format (warning: these are not in chronological order and remember you can click on any photo to enlarge it!)

Here is a sequence of shots showing me feeding the 50 cheetah they have at CCF Namibia, where I recently spent several days. These cheetah can no longer hunt for themselves due to injuries but the CCF crew wanted to keep them as wild as possible so they bought a huge tract of land, fenced it off, and released all the cheetah into it. Once a day, they take 50 huge chunks of donkey or horse meat into the fenced area in the back of a pick up truck.....

....The cheetah know that truck equals food but they are still wild. Whenever we got out of the truck we had to use sticks to keep the cheetah at bay. They start up the truck and make the cheetah run after it to ensure they are getting exercise......

....and then they stop the truck and the cheetah start to gather around it with hunger in their eyes and their teeth bared.........

....and then they throw the huge raw meat chunks out at the cheetahs who grab them in their mouth and run off into the bush to eat. I got to stand on the back of the truck and throw the meat out. It was awesome. My hands were bloody and cheetahs were snarling at me and at each other! It was very primitive to witness and a high point of my time in Africa :)
